RootsTube: Down Under Florida–The Miltons

Posted By Libbi On 18 August 2008 @ 07:20 In Genealogy Sites, Genealogy, Genealogy Online | 2 Comments

This week, RootsTube has an especially touching episode of [1] Down Under Florida,  called “The Miltons.”

[2] Genealogy Guys George Morgan and Drew Smith take us Down Under Florida to learn more about the tragedy behind the Milton family tombstones in Orange Hill cemetery in Tampa. In the process, Morgan and Smith demonstrate some excellent genealogy techniques and resources including:

  • Census Records
  • Newspaper Obituaries and stories
  • Military enlistment records
  • Death records including [3] SSDI
  • Cemetery records and employees

Up to now, my favorite episode was [4] “Dearly Departed”.  In that one, the guys research the Ashley family’s tombstone in Oaklawn cemetery in Tampa, and find a love story “that transcended death.”

This new one ties with the Ashley family story for ‘wonderfulness’. Thanks, Genealogy Guys, for another 20 minutes of excellent genealogy journalism!
