I am the person referred to by Jenny Lanctot. My GG grandmother Mary Ann Jolly was said to be 100% Cherokee. Her husband is said to have met her on The "Trail of Tears". They were married in Cincinnati OH. She died in White Co. IL in 1897. She is said to have been born in OH which is unlikely if she was Cherokee. No death records for IL for 1897. She is a recent find, so I am still working on background. I have searched Cherokee rolls for 1835 of likely TOT marchers, but no Jollys listed. Rufus

I'm very curious to see where this goes, Elizabeth. One of the members of my genealogical society brought some information on a Native American ancestor (I'm pretty sure Cherokee) to the meeting last month. The surname of one of the Cherokee women was Jolly, probably from northwest Georgia/southeast Tennessee. Our next meeting is on March 13. I'll be happy to see if I can get a copy of what he had if you like.
