Blogging Prompt: Local Genealogy Society
2 March 2009 by Libbi.
Week #8: Talk about highlights and events from your local genealogy society. Most genealogy bloggers are members of several historical societies and love to hear about the events in other organizations. This is also a great way to attract new members. Thanks to We Tree (http://wetree.blogspot.com/2009/01/jump-start-your-genealogy-blog-52-ideas.html) for the inspiration!

Bayview Senior Citizens Center. The doors are open at 9 a.m. for coffee and donuts and socializing. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. with a brief business meeting and then a program. The next one is April 5,
FIND YOUR WEST FLORIDA ANCESTORS at Family History Day
Saturday April 5, 2008
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This is when you bring what you know, birth dates and places, names and so forth, and the experienced members of the club show you how to take the next step in researching genealogy in the Panhandle.
The West Florida Genealogical Society (WFGS) and the West Florida Regional Library (WFRL) also have genealogy books, microfilm, microfiche, periodicals, maps, CD-ROMs, software programs, and other delights for those seeking missing persons in their family tree . The Genealogy Collection is on the second floor of the library on the corner of Gregory and Spring Streets. Phone (850) 435-1760. You can explore the catalog online at http://home.att.net/~roywfgs/Catalog/index.html .
So if you are coming down for Spring Break, Easter, or just for a day at the beach, you can work in some family history searching, too!
